Osmanthus is a small, but diverse group of evergreen shrubs known for their attractive foliage and on most varieties, extremely fragrant, small, white, trumpet shaped flowers. Osmanthus burkwoodii and Osmanthus delavayii both have dark green foliage while Osmanthus heterophylla 'Goshiki' has variegated, almost holly-like foliage.
All are excellent accent plants or nice as a smaller, informal hedge. Plant fragrant varieties where the scent can be enjoyed. Most bloom In spring and early summer.
Osmanthus performs best in a cool, moist climate in the full sun. Moist, but well drained. Moderately fertile soil is ideal.
