What is Flocking?
Flocking is a substance that is sprayed on fresh-cut trees to give the appearance of snow. Flocking is made up of starch, gluten and borax.

Flocked trees brighten up the home and improve needle retention. Flocking also serves as a mild fire retardant.
Do You Have Flocked Trees Ready To Sell?
Yes, we pre-flocked several trees every year that are ready to take home. Drop by the store and pick the one that best suits your needs. Generally speaking, these pre-flocked trees are more affordable than custom-flocking
Do You Custom Flock Trees?
Yes, we custom flock trees that you pick from our selection. Because of the added time and effort, custom-flocked trees are slightly more expensive than a pre-flocked trees.
Do we only do custom-flocked trees?
No, we have a few different services when it comes to flocked trees. We have a custom flock where you go and pick your tree, the heaviness of the flock, and if you want to add anything to it. Then we have a service where you tell us what tree you want and we flock it to our standard flocked look. This is a great option if you want the standard look but you are a bit more particular about the type of tree you want. Then the last option is that each week, we flock a few extras from the most popular size and type and those are available for retail sale. This option works on a first come first serve basis so if you are interested make sure you come to the nursery on Thursday or Friday to get your first choice.
Do We Flock Trees Sourced From Other Farms?
Yes, we can, but all standard fees apply. Due to equipment limitations, we limiting flocking to trees 8ft and under in height
Do We Flock Artificial Trees?
Unfortunately, not at this time.
Can You Pre-Light The Tree?
Unfortunately, we do not pre-light flocked trees. We do have a great selection of micro-dot lights, in shades of white as well as in multi-coloured strands. The wire on this light is minuscule and looks great with the flocked tree look!
How Long Does It Take?
It usually takes 3-5 days from the green tree to a flocked tree ready to pick up. Green trees need to dry out and be cleaned before the process starts. Flocking goes on wet and takes several days to dry. We try to flock early in the week so that trees are ready to pick up the following weekend. It can take longer when the weather is extremely cold or wet.
How Do I Transport a Flocked Tree?
Flocked trees are wrapped in a large plastic tube that will keep the tree relatively dry. We encourage you to pick up your tree on dry days as flocking should not get wet. Our staff can help you get your flocked tree to your vehicle. We recommend leaving the tree wrapped in plastic for protection while moving it inside, however, do not store the tree in plastic for any length of time.
A pro tip is to keep the bag under your tree throughout the holiday season hidden by a tree skirt, for easy cleanup when the holidays are over.
When are Flocked Trees Available?
Flocking begins in mid to late November. Pre-flocked trees are available in-store at this time. Please inquire about corporate/commercial flocking projects
Flocking Health & Safety
Flocking is considered non-toxic to people and pets and is a combination of starch, gluten and borax. However, Borax can be an irritant or a hazard if consumed in large quantities. We always encourage you to consult with medical professionals or veterinarians to determine if there is any adverse health risk.
Disposing of a Flocked Tree
Flocking washes away in the rain and does not create any significant environmental risks. However, local municipalities prefer the flocked trees are not put into green-waste. They should be treated as household waste.

Please place your order by Sunday, for pick-up the following weekend. Alternatively, you can also choose from our selection of pre-flocked trees in-store
For our 2024 flocking season, submit your order by Sunday, December 8th at the latest.
