How To Grow Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera are easy to grow, hardy, slow-growing succulent with restorative properties. Gel-like sap is known for its healing properties. Many use it to soothe minor burns and abrasions. It is commonly used in medicines and cosmetics world-wide.
LIGHT
Bright light, with some direct sun in winter is best. If changing location, make it a gradual change as it can burn when suddenly exposed to full sun.
WATER
Keep the soil slightly moist spring through fall, and slightly drier in the winter. Do not allow the soil to dry out completely. Black spots on leaves can indicate overwatering. Average to dry humidity is recommended.
SOIL
A cactus potting mix with good drainage is recommended. Alternately, add 1 part coarse sand with 2 parts all-purpose potting mix.
CARE
Aloe is easy to grow and fairly trouble-free . Check for scale or mealy-bugs which can affect this plant. Brown leaf tips can indicate that the plant is not getting enough water. Feed spring through fall with a succulent plant fertilizer. Divide and repot when it begins to outgrow its pot.
