No, not all Bamboo varieties are invasive. Bamboos are generally divided into two groups, running varieties and clumping varieties. running varieties spread quickly via underground rhizomes (roots) and can quickly take over an area if not contained. For that reason, we suggest a) planning ahead, b) using a containment system, or c) planting in containers.
Clumping varieties are well behaved and will not spread agressively. Yes, they will grow in time but their growth pattern is slow and easy to control. They do not even need a containment system and are just as well behaved in a container as they are in the garden.
