This month, we are offering a bonsai workshop hosted by the BC Bonsai Society on site 10-1pm, March 2025. They have partnered up with us at Art's Nursery, to host a beginner workshop, where participants will be mentored to select an appropriate plant, purchased seperately, and be guided through the steps to transform it into a bonsai. The workshop will cover plant selection, design, branch pruning and wiring at a beginner level. Each step in the process will be instructed and demonstrated, then participants will do the work on their own selected tree. The cost to participate is $10, price of the plant and accessories are additional. *Please note that soil included is for a #2 pot size, additional soil can be purchased day of. *

This event is run by Darren Melhus, He is a full-time bonsai creator and teacher with over 20 years experience. He is the current President of the BC Bonsai Society and is chairperson for the club meetings where he provides instruction on bonsai design and horticulture for beginner to advanced practitioners. Darren enjoys introducing people to bonsai and passing on what he has learned so that others can enjoy and create great bonsai trees.
