In most areas, watering of your dahlia plants will not be necessary until top growth has appeared. If the soil is
very dry, watering may be necessary to encourage new growth. Once the plants are above ground and growing rapidly
a good deep watering may be provided every few days. Watering will be needed in almost all dahlia growing areas
throughout the growing season until two weeks before expected frost or digging. A good deep watering is preferable
to a light application. A soaker hose permanently placed on the soil surface will apply water exactly where needed.
The flowers and foliage will remain dry thus reducing the risk of fungal disease.
