This new tree is a compact form of Sango kaku. It has the same bright lime-green foliage, and, of course, the coral colored bark. bright red, winter stems. Terrific yellow, red, and orange in autumn.
Japanese maples prefer moist, acidic soil. They do not like to sit in wet or soggy ground. Their preferred site is one that isn't too hot and gets some shade.
Prune in late fall or winter when the tree is dormant. Prune out dead or diseased branches. If the interior of the tree seems crowded, with many branches crossing each other, thin them out.
