Rhododendrons And Azaleas
Hi there, everybody. We're at Art’s Nursery and we’ve got some lovely new rhododendrons and azaleas that just arrived. We’re really excited about it! We have gorgeous repeat bloomer azaleas. They have a nice flush in the spring and then it'll sporadically bloom again throughout the summer and right into September. It is a gorgeous addition and we have them in whites, pinks, purples. We are waiting on the red yet. So don't all you red lovers just hang tight.
Fertilizing Azaleas and Rhododendrons
Remember to fertilize your azaleas and rhododendrons every year. The best times to do it would be early season and then again after the flowering of the azalea and rhododendron. Remember not to put the fertilizer near the stem, instead you go along the drip line of the plant. Work it around the plant and then so do that before the before the buds start emerging and then again right after the flowering.
Pruning Azaleas and Rhododendrons
And if you do want to keep your azaleas and rhododendrons down in size, the right time to prune them would be right after flowering.
Rhododendrons at Art’s Nursery
We have a huge selection of rhododendrons here at Art’s Nursery in Surrey. Find them at the back of the Nursery. Down the way is the azaleas and then if you keep walking south you'll hit our gorgeous full rhododendron section. There is lots of gorgeous colour in here. They're all waiting to bud open. If you came weekly you would see each and every one of them at their highest beautiful states. One of our current favourites is the Bubblegum Rhododendron. Absolutely gorgeous if you want a little splash of pink in your garden. This one would be an awesome one and bubblegum is also one that will take some sun. So it's a sun tolerant variety as well.
We have some lovely selections over this way as well. Our white rhododendron section right here is all ready to open up and the dora amateis is another one that's sun tolerant as well. Gorgeous mounding, compact and full of blooms as you can see. My personal favourites is unique, which is absolutely gorgeous. Another compact grower.
You can see how tight the growth is and the buds when they open are like a Bubblegum pink rhododendron and then they open two shades of pink and yellow and white and they are absolutely stunning. So google those and you will see what a beautiful Rhododendron that will be or pop in and see when it opens and you'll be so happy that you came in.
We got a few more Rhododendrons out on the corner. And these are our sun tolerant ones. I've got cathro balinese boursault rhododendron and catawbiense grandiflorum rhododendrons. These are both gorgeous Rhoddendrons. They will get 6 to 12 feet tall. They are absolutely stunning in the garden. They really have a great presence.
So trude webster rhododendron is a new variety for us. Absolutely is gorgeous. I googled it last night because I wanted to see the blooms and I'm absolutely breathtaken. by it. It's a gorgeous shrub. It's about six feet in height, four to six feet in height. You can see by the blossom size that these are going to be huge huge flowers. And so this is well worth taking a look at. It's got a really rough edge and it's very very pretty.
So come on over and visit us. We've got so many different varieties to choose from from whites to purples to pinks to yellows. And we have a very extensive collection of purples. I must say and there's some really unique varieties like the trude webster. I already mentioned there's this whole half dan lamb rhododendron. There's catawbiense grandiflorum, minnetonka, purple lace. You name it! We've got it.
