How Do I Overseed My Lawn?

Overseeding your lawn is a very simple process.

Overseed at the right time, Fall is best followed by Spring. You can overseed in summer too as long as you provide adequate moisture.

Prepare the area by exposing the bare soil. Aerating is also an option to allow air and water into the soil providing a better environment for germinating grass seeds. Sprinkle or spread your overseed grass mix into the exposed areas as well as the area immediately surrounding the location. Make sure the grass seed makes good contact with the soil. Consider gently raking the seed into the soil.

Water regularly and deeply to help the grass seed germinate. New grass seed needs more frequent watering than established lawns. In some cases, you may need to water daily.

Once the new seed germinates, continue watering and start a fertilization program to build roots and promote top growth. We can recommend several fertilizers which are ideal for new lawns.
