How Do I Get Rid of Moss In My Lawn?

Moss is an opportunistic plant that requires certain conditions to grow. While there are products you can purchase to eliminate moss, the best long-term solution is to change the environment so that moss will not grow.

Moss requires shade. If there are opportunities to make the area sunnier or less shady, you will eliminate many moss problems.

Second, moss requires moisture. Improve the drainage in the area by adding a sandy soil like our Turf-Blend.

Thirdly, moss required acidic soil to flourish. Change the pH by applying lime to the area. Lime makes the soil less acidic and makes it inhospitable for moss to grow.
