Kalmia are a relatively unknown and underused evergreen shrub for shady locations. Deep green foliage is accented by unbelievaby beautiful summer blooming flowers in shades of white, pink, red and brown.
Shallow rooted, they resent disturbance and transplanting and can be slow to take. They generally prefer light shade, through will tolerate some sun if kept moist. A moist, but well drained soil, acidic soil is best.
