This striking annual has broad foliage that is chartreuse when young, changing to shades of red and bronze as summer light and heat intensifies, darkening to deep burgundy by fall; showy, purple-black, cattail-like flowers attract birds and make nice cut flowers; drought tolerant once established.
Good in borders, containers, mass plantings and as accent, background or contrast
Best colour if planted in full sun; better-branched at base than 'Purple Majesty'
