Handsome shrub with leathery, dark green foliage that backs a profusion of exquisite light pink, large, semi-double blooms. A prized plant of the milder regions of the U.S. Mid to late season bloomer. Evergreen. Moderate growing 6 to 8 ft. tall and wide. Filtered sun. Cutting grown.
Border, Container, Espalier, Mass Planting, Privacy Screen, Woodland Garden. Plant in mass in a woodland setting for best effect at a distance. Works wonderful in an Asian design or up close to your outdoor living area in beds, containers or foundation plantings. Can be trained as an espalier to soften retaining and privacy walls.
Camellias like slightly acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. A site in part shade and not in afternoon sun is preferred. They also like a somewhat sheltered site, as rain, snow and wind spoil the flowers. Regular mulching conserves moisture around their shallow roots. Avoid excessive cultivation. Pruning is usually only necessary for removing dead, damaged of diseased wood.
